MANDARACHA was aired on KBS Kyoto TV on February 18th in the program called "Taniguchi Ryuryu". The host is the DJ/Radio and TV talent Ms. Kiyoko Taniguchi.
“Ryuryu” being the method of each school style. Kiyoko Taniguchi visits the workplace of people who are active in Kyoto. It is a program that unravels the ten different life philosophies that each person has walked. At the end of the program, Kiyoko Taniguchi writes the words that describe the guest of the day. A big thank you to Ms. Taniguchi for giving us the opportunity to talk about lifestyle as well as the concept of MANDARACHA. It was an honour to receive such a wonderful guest in our place.
Summary:
Alexandre is originally from France. In 2020, he opened MANDARACHA, the Japanese tea specialty store which is a 5-minute walk from the Kiyomizu Gojo Station in Kyoto. It offers a wonderful time and space with carefully selected teas around Japan. After graduating in Chemical engineering from university in France, Alexandre NICOLAU visited about 30 countries around the world during his work related to pollution. When he was 29 years old, he drank a real Japanese green tea for the first time in Kobe, and was impressed by the depth of flavor that was very different from black tea.
At 30 years old he moved to Japan and started studying Japanese in Aichi Prefecture. He joined a major beverage manufacturer at the age of 37 after graduating from a MBA program from Waseda University. At the age of 45, he opened a Japanese tea shop with the aim of sharing the knowledge & experience of Japanese tea to the world.
