It is with great pleasure that we are announcing the beginning of a new experience combining Shamisen performances and Japanese teas.
This event is the result of the collaboration between MANDARACHA tea House and ETHNOPUNK, a Japanese organization to promote Japanese tradition and culture with music.
From May 22nd (our first date), we will be starting to host a monthly series of musical and sensory experiences named Shamisen, Storytelling and Tea.
MK, the creative Director of ETHNOPUNK (www.ethnopunk.org) is a musicologist and Shamisen performer who has been living in Japan for over 10 years. He made a 2000km pilgrimage through Japan that lasted 3 years where he spent time in various villages, and shared his music locally with other performers (in festivals, temples, Kaguras, etc).
Alex, the founder of MANDARACHA is a scientist who is going through Japan to meet farmers and find teas gems that he is promoting in the Tea House in Kyoto. For preserving the tradition and supporting evolution, he has been working in tea with technologies and also collaborating with several artists to offer authentic experiences to all visitors wanting to find the divine nature of their humanity.
Please watch the video of Alex and MK introducing this experience.
